Let’s face it, good design should include good organization . If you don’t have places to put stuff, you will never escape your chaos. So get organized!

Here are some tips for:


Save time, save money.

Improve Productivity and Relieve Stress.

Gain Focus and Flow.

Get that energized, light, peaceful feeling that makes work easy!

Organized home office Mantra: “Where does this go?”

Go paperless:

Cam Card, free app to capture business cards.

Cam Scanner, free app to replace fax machine while on the go, yes, it’s that good.

Purge weekly, or monthly. Shred, trash, file, or take action. Keep tax records, credit card statements, bills/invoices, and personal items only

Color code filing:
Financial, medical, personal, insurance, house, employees, children, pets, etc.

Drop zone:

Mail (incoming/outgoing), pocket contents, keys, wallet, what doesn’t go straight to the desktop (phone, laptop).

Printing zone:

Wireless multifunction machine, paper, toner, filing system for printed items.

Categorize supplies:

Stickies (sticky notes, tabs, stickers, etc.)

Tools (scissors, straight cutter, stapler, staple remover, hole puncher)

Budget (checkbook, calculator, bill calendar)

Writing Tools (markers, pens, pencils)

Mail (envelopes, stamps, address labels)

Labeling (labeler and label tape)

Label and contain:

Clearly marking what is where will keep clutter from accumulating if used items go back where they belong.

Wall space, go vertical:

Hang filing systems, calendars, whiteboard, command center.


Get items off the floor and the top of the desk.

Put things where they can be seen and found easily.
